HOW TO GET STARTED
9. Can I find out more without feeling obligated?

1.  What do you mean by “intentional home?”
When you create a home with intention, you have a specific vision of what you want your home to provide for you. Maybe your intention is to create kid-friendly spaces, support your marriage, or create a sense of calm. Or perhaps they're practical -- decrease congestion in the kitchen, make the living room welcoming, or create a functional home office. We'll work together to identify your unique goals and devise ideas and solutions to make it happen.

2.  How is your service different from an interior designer or professional organizer?

My goal is to help you create a space that not only looks good and functions well, but that reflects your priorities, supports your hopes and dreams, and rejuvenates you for another day. My approach incorporates interior design and organizing elements, but is broader and deeper.

I address a wide range of factors. These include your intentions for the space, the role of clutter, lifestyle habits, environmental stressors, layout and arrangement, psychological barriers, and the interrelationship between different parts of your home. It's fascinating stuff and I love it all. There's no other home service like it.

3.  What happens at a consultation?

It starts with a phone conversation -- during which we talk about your needs, hopes and dreams, and frustrations with your space. Once I'm onsite, we'll take a quick tour of the relevant parts of your home, and then dig into the specifics of improving your space. We work together the entire time -- talking, brainstorming, and troubleshooting. At the end of your session you receive a detailed write-up of all my suggestions.

4.  I’d be embarrassed to have you come!

You’re not alone -- many people feel that way at first. Please remember I'm here to help, not judge. And my services are confidential. Besides, I'm a real person, too, balancing a career, family, and a dog! Creating an intentional home isn’t about perfection; it's about using the best tools available to create a home you love.

5.  Who makes the changes you recommend?

Although we sometimes do hands-on work to get things started, my role is to offer the expertise, direction, and inspiration. You then make the changes in the way that makes sense to you. At the end of the consultation, you receive a detailed write-up that you can implement in your own timeframe.

6.  Is a consultation going to snowball and lead to more expenses?

My consultations are pure information services; I'm not selling anything. My objective is to give you the best, unbiased information I can. For any changes I suggest, I encourage you to work with items you already have. However, if you decide to make retail purchases, a consultation often saves you money because as you shop, you have a clear vision of what you are looking for, based on my recommendations. This can avoid costly mistakes.

7.  What if I want more than one consultation?
After a consultation, some people find they want more. Based on your needs, we'll decide on the goals and timeframe for a follow-up.

8.  Do you do Feng Shui consultations, too?
Yes, upon request. I'm certified in western Feng Shui, the Chinese art of placement and energy flow. When I first started my consulting business 4 years ago, I focused exclusively on Feng Shui.  Recently I broadened my services to offer people more options. If you're interested in a Feng Shui consultation, please let me know during your needs assessment phone call so I can tell you how to prepare. Additional fees may apply.

9.  Can I find out more without feeling obligated?

Absolutely. Please call for a needs assessment. There's no obligation. It's a chance for me to learn about your specific situation and a chance for you to see if a consultation makes sense for you. If it feels like a good fit for both us, we’ll schedule your session. It's as simple as that. I thoroughly enjoy helping people create a home they love. If you could use some help, I hope you’ll give me a call.
